A visible finish line helps
The moment there is a time limit, the brain locks on to right now. That is the deadline effect — absorption starts once there is an end in sight.
A timer is the most proven tool there is for training focus. In the Egg leans on game mechanics so your child brings more of their own will to it.

Instead of a vague "focus!", the time left shows as a number. A feel for handling time grows from there.
What gets measured grows. Your child sees yesterday's 40 minutes turn into today's 50 with their own eyes.
Rest before the brain tires — the proven Pomodoro recipe
Blocks get bypassed fast. Change the clock, delete and reinstall… search "how to get around Screen Time" and it is all there.
You cannot block the essential apps. The messaging app has to stay open for homework announcements. But short-form video and social feeds now live inside it. Block everything else and they still watch it all in there.
The more you block, the more they hide. The moment it becomes a fight, your child spends their creativity on getting around you.
So In the Egg changed the game. Instead of blocking, it records the time spent putting the phone down and focusing.
Change the measure and the conversation about the same day changes.
You only see focus time.
A "well done" and a gift of Coins — your encouragement becomes an in-game reward.
A child who feels recognised starts the next session on their own.
Blocking apps and focus timer apps alike end up demanding complicated setup. In the Egg has nothing to set up.

The monitoring side of Parent Mode — checking your child's focus, linking accounts, sending encouragement — is free. The free version does carry banner ads, and for both children and parents, removing ads and entering the 3D Pet Village is opened by a single Lifetime Pass purchase. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no popups pushing you to pay.
No. Parent Mode shows only your child's focus time. Communications, location, and other app usage never appear on the parent screen.
Yes. Search each child by ID (or email), send them a connection request, and they are added once the child accepts.
Yes. Even with different operating systems, you link by searching the ID (or email).
Either the parent or the child can unlink, and it takes effect immediately on both sides.
In Parent Mode, search your child's ID (or email) and send a connection request; you are linked once they accept it from their in-app notification. No family group, no device pairing, no code to type in.
The free version has ads. Every user sees only G-rated ads regardless of age, users under 14 see non-personalized ads only, and buying the Lifetime Pass removes ads across the whole app.
Turn on "Lock Deep Focus" in Parent Mode and, from the next session on, the Timer can only be started in Deep Focus mode. It does not apply to a session already in progress.
